Pura Vida Calming: The Joint Formula With the Confusing Name

by HempSZN on Sep 26, 2026

Start with the thing that causes returns: Pura Vida Calming is not a relaxation product. The name suggests winding down. The formula is turmeric, boswellia, ginger, quercetin, cat's claw and vitamin C — a joint comfort and antioxidant blend.

If you want the evening product, you want Tranquil. If you want something for daily use around movement and joints, read on.

The basics

  • Format: 10 tablets per bottle, 125 mg each (1,250 mg per bottle)
  • Sold as: a box of 4 bottles — $45, or $11.25 a bottle
  • Flavors: Blue Raspberry, Strawberry, Watermelon Mint
  • 21+ only

It's the best value per milligram in the range: 1,250 mg a bottle against 500 mg for the other two, at a lower box price.

What's in a serving

From FESA Labs sample D90060824-2 (25 August 2026):

  • Turmeric extract 196.08 mg — the curcumin source
  • Ginger extract 98.04 mg
  • Quercetin 98.04 mg — a flavonoid, studied as an antioxidant
  • Boswellia serrata 49.02 mg — works by a different pathway than curcumin
  • Vitamin C 39.22 mg — a cofactor in collagen synthesis
  • Cat's claw 19.61 mg — the traditional ingredient here, with the thinnest evidence
  • Calming proprietary blend — undisclosed by the manufacturer

How to take it

With food. Turmeric can cause stomach upset on an empty stomach, and fat helps with curcumin absorption — taking it with a meal that contains some is sensible. Any time of day; nothing here is sedating or stimulating.

Joint botanicals are a consistency product. Research on curcumin and boswellia measures outcomes over weeks, not hours.

Honest expectations

Curcumin trials for knee osteoarthritis discomfort typically use 500–2,000 mg a day of standardised extract, usually with an absorption aid. Boswellia trials use 100–250 mg standardised for AKBA. This formula sits below those, which is what happens when six ingredients share one tablet. The detail is in our joint comfort research guide, including the absorption issue most labels never mention.

What's not in it

Full kratom alkaloid panel and kavalactones: all non-detect. Numbers on the lab results page.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone on blood thinners. Turmeric, ginger and quercetin can all interact with warfarin and similar medication. Ask your doctor first
  • Anyone with gallstones or bile duct problems — turmeric may not suit you
  • Anyone with surgery scheduled — tell your surgeon what you take, and stop beforehand if advised
  • Pregnant or nursing, or under 21
  • Anyone expecting a sedative. Again: that's Tranquil
