Chocolate, Gummies or Syrup: Picking a Format for Functional Mushroom Edibles

by HempSZN on Oct 05, 2026

Most people choose between these products by flavor. Format is the more consequential decision, because it determines how precisely you can control a dose — and dose control is the whole game with edibles.

Dose control, ranked

Format Dose control Why
Gummies Best Each gummy is a discrete, manufactured unit. One gummy is one gummy
Chocolate bar Good Scored into squares, but the blend is not always perfectly even across a bar
Syrup Worst You decide the amount every single time, and a generous pour is invisible

Gummies: start here

A gummy is a fixed unit. You cannot accidentally take 1.6 of one. For a first experience with any mushroom blend, that matters more than anything else about the product.

The trap is pack size. TRĒ House gummies come 15 to a pack. Holy Moly comes two. Those are completely different products in terms of how long a purchase lasts, and people who assume every pack is a multi-serving bag get caught out.

Also: a serving does not transfer between brands. Different blend, different response. If you were fine with two of one brand's gummies, start with one of another's. Mmelt gummies and TRĒ House use different proprietary blends and are not interchangeable by count.

Chocolate: good, with two caveats

Scored bars let you take a measured piece, which puts chocolate close to gummies for control. TRĒ House divides into 15 squares, Mmelt and Mamba Geisha into their own portions.

Caveat one: allergens. All of these contain dairy. TRĒ House bars are made on equipment that also processes nuts, and the Mamba almond flavor contains nuts outright. If you have a nut allergy, gummies are the safer category.

Caveat two: a bar is a social object in a way a gummy is not. People break off a piece and pass it along without saying what it is. Don't.

Syrup: for people who already know their dose

We stock TRĒ House Magic Mushroom Syrup because people ask for it, and we will say plainly that it is the hardest format in our range to use well.

Nothing about a bottle of syrup constrains how much you take. There is no square to break off and no gummy to count. A pour that looks modest can be two or three times what you intended, and because onset runs one to two hours you will not know until it is far too late to undo.

If you buy syrup:

  • Measure it with a measuring spoon or a marked cup. Never pour by eye, and never pour into an opaque cup where you cannot see the amount.
  • Pour for people individually and tell them exactly what they are getting. Do not pass a bottle around.
  • Never leave a mixed drink unattended, in a fridge, or anywhere someone could pick it up by mistake. A sweet syrup in a kitchen is a genuine hazard.

One more thing about syrups: we stock two TRĒ House syrups that look nearly identical and contain completely different things. The Magic Mushroom Syrup is a functional mushroom blend. TRĒ House Syrup is hemp-derived delta-8 and delta-9 THC at 13 mg of delta-9 per serving. Same brand, same bottle shape, entirely different product. Read the label before pouring.

Onset is the same across all three

One to two hours, varying by person and by what you have eaten. The format changes how much you take, not how fast it arrives.

Which means the rule is identical regardless of what you buy: take the smallest amount, wait two full hours, and only then consider more. Every format fails the same way, and it is always because someone redosed at forty-five minutes.
