How to Pick a Hemp Vape Flavor (Including Why You Might Want None)

There is no single best vape flavor, and any article claiming otherwise is guessing on your behalf. What there is: a small number of things worth understanding, after which choosing takes about ten seconds.
What a strain name on a cartridge actually means
This is the part that trips people up.
When a cartridge says Blue Dream or Northern Lights, it is usually describing a terpene profile added back after extraction β not a cartridge filled with oil from that specific plant. Extraction strips most of the volatile terpenes; brands reintroduce a blend to give the product character.
That is not deceptive, it is just how the category works. But it means the strain name is a flavor and aroma description, not a genetic claim. Two brands' Blue Dream can taste noticeably different.
The exception is live resin and live rosin, where the terpenes are the plant's own, captured by flash-freezing before they degrade. That is a real part of why those formats cost more β covered in our extraction guide.

Why unflavored is on every one of our house products
It is not a budget option or a leftover. Three real reasons people choose it:
Flavored carts give some people headaches. This comes up often enough to be worth naming. Certain added terpene blends, particularly the very sweet candy profiles, seem to trigger headaches in some users. If that has happened to you, unflavored is worth trying before you conclude cartridges do not agree with you.
Added terpenes can turn harsh when hot. Terpenes vaporise at lower temperatures than cannabinoids. Run a heavily flavored cart at high voltage and the flavor goes from pleasant to acrid. Unflavored has far less to scorch.
Some people want the effect and nothing else. No sweetness, no candy note, nothing lingering. That is a legitimate preference and it is quietly popular.
How to actually choose
Start with what you like in other things. Enjoy citrus and bright flavors? Ghost Train Haze or Green Crack. Prefer sweet and dessert-like? Sundae Driver or Rainbow Belts. Want the widest-appeal option? Blue Dream.
Buy the small size first. A 2G cartridge is $19.99 against $24.99 for a 4G. Finding out you dislike a flavor costs less when you bought two grams of it. Once you know, size up β the 6G works out around 40% cheaper per gram.
Then fix your voltage before blaming the flavor. A cart that tastes harsh is more often running too hot than badly made. Step down one setting before writing it off β see the voltage guide. If it still tastes bad at the lowest setting, then it is the oil, and we want to know.
One thing that is not a flavor problem
A burnt taste is different from a flavor you dislike. Burnt means the coil fired without enough oil on the wick β usually from chain-hitting, running low, or too much heat. No flavor fixes that. The troubleshooting guide covers it.
